Stichting Incident Management Vrachtauto’s

In 2000 the STIMVA was founded to improve the processing of incidents involving trucks in order to reduce the time this took and thus foster traffic flow. It is mainly such incidents that cause society a lot of hindrance.

The STIMVA is responsible for centrally coordinating the deployment of salvage personnel, equipment and vehicles in accidents involving trucks on main Dutch roads (highways and various Provincial roads). Within Incident Management this is also known as heavy salvage.

Partnership

The STIMVA is a partnership of the Association of Insurance Companies, the sector organisations Transport Logistiek Nederland (TLN), the organisation representing logistics and transport companies (EVO), Koninklijk Nederlands Vervoer (KNV) and Rijkswaterstaat (also on behalf of the other road authorities).

Cooperation significantly reduces the duration of processing incidents involving trucks on highways and has favourable effects on the duration of the traffic jam. At the same time, the structural focus on the method of processing incidents has led to further professionalisation of the salvage companies.

Still plenty of ambitions

The role of the STIMVA is not yet played out. There is still much to be gained in processing incidents. A correct request procedure and good registration are the core elements of this. At the same time, the further deployment of (new) techniques (like cameras) can improve the speed and completeness of the information.
